Former Syracuse player and current University of Southern California assistant coach Tony Bland was charged by the federal government with a variety of charges alleging that he received kickbacks from agents for steering players to use their services and was involved in paying college athletes.
The charges were brought on Tuesday by the United States Attorney's Office of the Southern District of New York and part of a larger case that involved representatives of Adidas.
The charges accuse Bland of meeting on July 29 in a hotel room in Las Vegas with Christian Dawkins, a former agent with ASM Sports, an undercover FBI agent and a cooperating witness.
