Syracuse, N.Y. -- Former Syracuse football linebacker Zaire Franklin made the 53-man roster for the Indianapolis Colts, the team announced on Saturday.
Franklin, who was picked in the seventh round, previously described Indianapolis as an ideal fit. After a strong camp, the Philadelphia product went on to lead the team in tackles during the preseason with 21.
During his time in Central New York, Franklin became the second three-time captain in program history and a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection. He never missed a game in his Orange career, starting his final 39 contests at middle linebacker and racking up 311 career tackles -- the most for an SU defender since Kelvin Smith (2003-06).
