Syracuse, N.Y. --- A former Syracuse University football player who later became a beloved bartender in Connecticut has died.

Mike "Wolfie" Connors passed away last week because of a heart attack, according to a report in the Connecticut Post. He was 58.

Connors was a defensive lineman at Syracuse under Frank Maloney after graduating from Staples High School in Connecticut in 1978.

He returned to his home state and became an assistant at his high school.

But he made his mark on the community as a bartender. He served drinks for more than 30 years at the Black Duck Cafe and two other restaurants.
