Syracuse, N.Y. -- Former Syracuse football linebacker Parris Bennett has signed with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent, according to his representation.
Bennett, a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, logged the first back-to-back 100-tackle campaigns at Syracuse since Keith Bullock in 1998-99. He was a three-year starter for the Orange who was valued for his versatility, splitting time at strong-side and weak-side linebacker last year.
Bennett becomes the fifth former Orange player to receive an opportunity with an NFL team this weekend. Linebacker Zaire Franklin was picked in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts while wide receiver Steve Ishmael (Indianapolis Colts), slot receiver Erv Philips (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and offensive tackle Jamar McGloster (San Francisco 49ers) have signed as free agents.
