Former Syracuse football LB Jameel McClain cut by New York Giants

Syracuse, N.Y. — Former Syracuse linebacker Jameel McClain was waived by the New York Giants on Saturday, according to multiple reports.

The eighth-year linebacker signed with the Giants before the 2014 season and started 14 games last year. He paced New York with a career-high 117 tackles to go with 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and two pass break-ups.

McClain converted to linebacker from defensive end when he was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He stayed with the franchise through 2013.

At SU, McClain was a second-team All-Big East selection as a junior in 2006.
