Former Syracuse Orange cornerback Wayne Morgan has received an invite to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookie minicamp, he told Syracuse.com on Monday.
Morgan did not hear his name called during the NFL Draft on Saturday and failed to sign as an undrafted free agent. Morgan will now face an uphill battle, as the 5-foot-11, 193-pound defensive back will attempt to impress the Jaguars coaching staff enough during the two- or three-day rookie minicamp to warrant a contract.
On the bright side, Morgan will see some familiar faces down in Jacksonville as he’ll be reunited with former teammate Amba Etta-Tawo, who signed with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent shortly after the draft’s conclusion, and former Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone, who helped recruit Morgan to SU in 2012.
