Syracuse, N.Y. -- Former Syracuse University basketball player Michael Gbinije has signed with the Golden State Warriors, according to several reports.
Gbinije, a 6-foot-7 guard, spent part of the 2016-17 season with the Detroit Pistons. He was a second-round pick of the Pistons in the 2016 NBA draft. Gbinije appeared in nine games with the Pistons. Most of the season, Gbinije played for the Grand Rapids Drive; Detroit's affiliate in the NBA's D-League.
The Pistons waived Gbinije this past July.
Gbinije began his college career at Duke, but transferred to Syracuse after just one season with the Blue Devils.
