Former Syracuse athletic director Daryl Gross' name has emerged in connection with the open athletic director's job at the University of California-Davis, his old alma mater.
Bob Dunning, a columnist with The Davis Enterprise newspaper, floated Gross' name as a potential candidate for the position, citing his ties to the school and his experience in major college sports. In fact, Dunning pretty much endorses Gross for the job.
The position has been filled by an interim, Teresa Gould, for nearly a year. Gould's husband, Ron, is the current football coach and his job security has been a subject of discussion since the end of last season.
