Former Syracuse assistant Mike Hopkins named Pac-12 Coach of the Year

Former Syracuse basketball assistant coach Mike Hopkins was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year in his first season as a head coach. The Pac-12 announced their awards on Monday night. They were picked based on voting from the league's 12 coaches.

In Washington, Hopkins took over a program that won just nine games the previous season and was picked to finish 10th in the conference in the preseason poll.

Under Hopkins the Huskies have more than doubled their win total to 20, while tying for sixth-place in the conference this season.

Hopkins has led the Huskies to marquee wins over both Kansas and Arizona and currently will head to the Pac-12 tournament with his team squarely on the NCAA Tournament bubble.
