While Dino Babers began his head coaching career by turning Eastern Illinois’ Jimmy Garoppolo into an NFL quarterback, the proof of concept was truly secured with the Bowling Green Falcons. At the FBS level, he coached quarterback Matt Johnson for two years, helping elevate his numbers to astronomical heights.
Now, Johnson will be bringing that experience playing for Babers to the Syracuse Orange — where he’ll be coaching under him.
On Sunday, Johnson announced that he’d be joining the Syracuse staff as an offensive quality control assistant.
