Former Syracuse Orange Brandon Mullins saw his first major league action of the season when Boston Cannons faced the Atlanta Blaze. He was subsequently awarded the Cascade Rookie of the Week honors for his stellar play on the field.
Mullins matched up against fellow Syracuse standout Kevin Rice who had been averaging about five goals-per-game at the start of the contest. He was able to limit Rice to only two goals, while picking up five ground balls himself. Previously, the Blaze had scored a combined 45 goals in their two previous games while Mullins and the rest of the defense limited them to just a dozen goals on the day in their 21-12 defeat.
