Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse football senior Eric Dungey is one of 15 quarterbacks still in contention for one of the nation's top quarterback awards.
Dungey made the cut for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award from a list of 30 quarterbacks, it was announced Wednesday morning.
The award has been presented at the end of each season since 1987 to the nation's top college quarterback, based on accomplishments both on and off the field.
Former Syracuse quarterback Don McPherson was the first player to win the award, which is given to a senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate and recognizes a player's character, citizenship, academic achievement and leadership qualities, among his on-field success.
