Eight members of the Syracuse Orange track and field teams are headed to Indiana University this week to compete in the NCAA East Regionals. The way NCAA outdoor track and field qualifying works is that the top 48 athletes in each event go to the two regionals and 12 from each event will qualify to advance to Eugene Oregon and the NCAA Championships.
Action starts on Wednesday with the men and Jaheem Hayles will be first to compete when the rounds of the 110m hurdles begin at 6 pm. Hayles has the 12-fastest time (13.57) in the region heading into the meet and in the first round of the event the top 3 in each of the 6 heats along with the next 6 fastest times will advance to Friday’s quarterfinal.
