Syracuse, N.Y. -- When quarterback Todd Norley hit the low point of his Syracuse career, Dick MacPherson met him on the sideline with a wink.
He was an overmatched freshman facing rival Penn State. He had family in the stands and about 85,000 strangers watching each successive failure. His fifth interception in a 28-7 loss drew MacPherson off the sideline.
"I'll never forget being in as low a place as you could be," Norley said. "He walked 10 yards off the sideline and comes up to me with that wink he's got and says, 'You hang in there buddy, there'll be better days.
