Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse lacrosse attackman Gale Thorpe is out for the season, according to Orange coach John Desko.
Thorpe, a redshirt sophomore, incurred a lower body injury in the first practice of the season a couple of weeks ago. Desko met with the media for the first time since then on Thursday to report the news.
Thorpe, from Jordan-Elbridge, got in just seven games and scored two goals and an assist for SU last season. But Desko said Thorpe was a serious contender for a spot on the first attack unit this season, battling Nate Solomon and Brad Voight for a spot with Jordan Evans on that group.
