Calling hours, funeral set for former Syracuse football head coach Dick MacPherson

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Calling hours for former Syracuse football coach Dick MacPherson will be held on Thursday at Hendricks Chapel at 5 p.m. His funeral will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in Hendricks Chapel.

Both services will be open to members of the public wishing to pay their respect. Parking will be available.

MacPherson died on Tuesday at the age of 86, surrounded by family and friends at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

His combination of colorful personality and on-field success made him a legendary figure within the Syracuse football program.

A member of the College Football Hall of Fame, MacPherson coached the University of Massachusetts for seven seasons, then led the Syracuse football team successfully for a decade from 1981 to 1990.
