SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse defensive back Devin M. Butler has signed as a free agent with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
A graduate transfer from Notre Dame, Butler served as Syracuse's primary nickelback in 2017. In 12 games for the Orange, he carded 20 tackles, including 14 solo, and two pass breakups. Butler finished his four-year collegiate career with 59 tackles, nine pass breakups and one interception.
Butler is the sixth member of the last year's Syracuse squad to earn an opportunity in professional football . Linebacker Zaire Franklin was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
