Boeheim's Army loses $2 million, gains memories: 'This was a hell of a ride'

Baltimore - He addressed the troops late Tuesday night in a locker room at Coppin State. Eric Devendorf, "30 years old now," as he reminded his Boeheim's Army teammates, would mix wisdom with wistfulness all wrapped in a warm orange blanket.

Devendorf wanted his guys to understand how much this past month meant to him, how much he appreciated the company of his Syracuse brothers.

Boeheim's Army had just fallen to The Basketball Tournament juggernaut, Overseas Elite, the two-time defending champion. It ended, for Boeheim's Army, on an 81-77 note, the opportunity to split $2 million collapsing beneath the weight of Elite's sharp shooting and ball sharing.
