Scott Shafer is making his return to the Carrier Dome this week when Syracuse football hosts Middle Tennessee.
Shafer, now the Blue Raiders' defensive coordinator, finished with a record of 14-23 in three years as head coach here.
But his tenure in this town lasted a lot longer. He came to Syracuse as Doug Marrone's defensive coordinator in 2009, and the eight years were filled with many highs and lows.
