Alex Bono, a former star at both Syracuse University and Baldwinsville's Charles W. Baker High School, started his first game for the United States Men's National Soccer team on Monday night.
Bono had an easy night in goal during a 3-0 win over Bolivia, earning his first career victory and shutout. He faced just four shots and didn't need to make an official save.
The game marked the second time that Bono was active for a game for the national team. He did not play against Paraguay in March.
While he didn't need to be particularly active Bolivia, the fact that Bono was on the roster and received the starting nod could bode well for his chances of someday performing for the United States in some of the world's biggest soccer tournaments.
