Mexico, N.Y. — After an hour spent discussing his 7-year-old daughter and her rare form of brain cancer, of surgeries and medicines, of chemotherapy and radiation, of conversations about death and uncertainty, Jeremy Belfield utters a phrase that makes little sense.
"We've been very blessed in the midst of this," he says.
He is sitting alongside his wife, Laura, as two twin girls, Lillian and Emma, giggle away upstairs, sharing a conversation in their own language.
"As much as it is a burden and a scary thing, it's been a huge blessing as well," Jeremy says.
