BRONX, N.Y. – #3/3 Notre Dame (10-0) took advantage of three first-half turnovers by #12/12 Syracuse (8-3) and claimed a 36-3 decision in the Shamrock Series game played at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
A sellout crowd of 48,104 saw the Orange and the Fighting Irish tangle at Yankee Stadium for the first time since 1963.
Syracuse's four-game winning streak was ended with the defeat.
HOW IT WAS DECIDED
Notre Dame's first points, a nine-yard touchdown pass from Ian Book to Dexter Williams in the first quarter, proved to be the winning points with Syracuse held to a field goal in the contest.
