Tributes have been paid to former Wales international Mel Charles, who has died at the age of 81.
The versatile and popular player was part of Wales' 1958 World Cup squad which advanced to the quarterfinals.
He began his 20-year career with his hometown club Swansea City, netting 66 goals in 233 league appearances.
Officials at the Welsh club said that Charles -- who was the younger brother of Juventus and Leeds great John Charles -- died peacefully on Saturday.
Swansea coach Alan Curtis said Charles was a much loved part of the club and the local community.
