Early opinions that Swansea would struggle this season initially appeared to be unfair. True, the team sold both captain Ashley Williams and top scorer Andre Ayew this summer, but also shifted a lot of dead weight.
A trio of misfiring strikers that combined for eight goals in total last season were replaced with two Spaniards, one a World Cup winner (Fernando Llorente) and the other considered among Europe's top emerging talents (Borja Baston). Jordi Amat has emerged from within as Williams' successor, and the core is the same as last season's side which finished 12th.
However, with Swansea managing only one win over the first three games -- two of them against newly promoted opposition -- it is becoming harder to argue against the naysayers.
