Swansea City have added Carlos Carvalhal to their shortlist as the search for Paul Clement’s replacement drags on.
The 52-year-old was sacked by Sheffield Wednesday on Christmas Eve but has long drawn interest from Swansea, who first considered him when Garry Monk left two years ago.
Having twice led Wednesday into the Championship play-offs, the Portuguese is an option who would have deep knowledge of the second tier in the event that bottom-placed Swansea go down.
But the fact he is under consideration is also a departure from their early recruitment strategy of wanting candidates with recent Premier League experience.
