Paul Clement set to risk more Swansea upset by dropping club stalwart Alan Curtis

Paul Clement has risked upsetting the Swansea supporters in his first week on the job by finding no place in his coaching team for club legend Alan Curtis.

Curtis, 62, has been part of the first-team set-up to varying degrees under each of the past four managers, having also carried out every job from player to community officer to caretaker manager since he first joined in 1972.

But it is understood that he will not be part of Clement’s backroom staff after overseeing Tuesday’s win at Crystal Palace as caretaker.

There is already a fear among employees at the club that a supporter base which has been significantly unsettled since the American takeover in the summer will now react badly to a change that removes a trusted Swansea icon from the frontline.
