Danny Murphy has slammed the tactical winning of penalties by certain players and insists the only way to prevent from this happening is for retrospective action to be introduced by the FA.
During the Premier League weekend two incidents occurred in which penalties were given in controversial circumstances; Leroy Sane being awarded a decision for Manchester City against Middlesbrough and likewise Marcus Rashford during Manchester United's clash with Swansea.
Both calls yielded goal-scoring penalties against two sides each desperately trying to avoid relegation, and Murphy believes help has to be given to referees to remedy players deliberately trying to get the decision.
