Rennesdefender Lorenz Assignon is on his way to England to finalise a move to Burnley, as they look to bring in a defender on deadline day.
The Clarets had been in talks to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 32-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Signal Iduna Park and has made just seven appearances in the Bundesliga this term.
However, have now opted to target 23-year-old defender Assignon, who is currently travelling to England ahead of the proposed move.
Vincent Kompany's side are looking for further depth on their flanks, as they continue to hold talks with Leeds over Connor Roberts' future.
