Sunderland may not reach the Premier League but they won’t die wondering in their pursuit of promotion.
That stems from the fearlessness of Tony Mowbray’s youthful squad and the swagger of Amad Diallo and Patrick Roberts, both excellent as Sunderland gained a 2-1 win over Luton to take to Kenilworth Road for Tuesday's second leg.
A defensive injury crisis simply became an opportunity to put more attacking players on the pitch for Mowbray as a stunner from Manchester United loanee Diallo and a Trai Hume header turned the game after Elijah Adebayo’s early opener for Luton.
