It was a familiar sight for Sunderland fans inside the Stadium of Light on Wednesday evening, as they witnessed their Under-23's hammered by a classy Porto B side in the Premier League International Cup final.
The gulf in class was evident throughout, as the Black Cats were brushed aside by the Portuguese outfit, who currently sit eighth in Portugal's second division.
Now in its third year, the competition was designed to help bridge the gap between first team and reserve football, as well as helping players acclimatise to foreign competitions. But the visitors looked comfortable in the Wearside weather from the very first whistle, and were three goals to the good by half-time.
