Sunderland train under new manager Simon Grayson for the first time as they prepare for Championship life

Simon Grayson was put straight to work by Sunderland as he took charge of his first training session less than 24 hours after becoming the club's new manager.

The Blackcats were granted permission by Preston North End to speak to Grayson on Thursday morning and needed less than a day to agree a £750,000 compensation package with his now-former club.

And the 47-year-old wasted no time in getting to work with his new players, taking an active role in a pre-season training session at the Academy of Light ahead of the new Championship season.

And Grayson is probably right to get going as soon as possible as he has a lot of work to do following Sunderland's relegation from the Premier League.
