Sunderland outcast Papy Djilobodji has claimed he turned down the chance to stay in England this summer before joining Dijon on loan.
The 28-year-old former Chelsea man agreed to join the French club for the season following Sunderland's relegation from the Premier League last term.
However, Djilobodji has now revealed that he was offered the chance to remain in the English top flight just a day before his switch to Dijon was announced.
He told L'Equipe: "On 30th August, when I had already given my word to Dijon, a Premier League club contacted me.
