Sunderland season-ticket holders have reacted angrily to a ‘Christmas Bonus’ inviting them to buy EXTRA seats for home matches - despite the team not winning at the Stadium of Light in almost a year.

The Black Cats last enjoyed victory in front of their own crowd on December 17, 2016 and their barren run of 21 games is a new English record.

But the Championship club have now offered long-suffering fans the chance of tickets for the first four home matches of 2018 for just £30, or £20 for under-16s.

Their offer, billed as a 'thank you' to season-card holders, read: ‘So, if you’re stuck for a Christmas present, why not start someone’s New Year in style by bringing them along to Barnsley, Hull, Ipswich and Brentford’.
