Stewart Donald has pledged to give Sunderland a "pretty hefty" budget for their League One campaign after his takeover of the club was confirmed.
Donald paid former owner of the Black Cats Ellis Short £40million, while also providing a guarantee to wipe out the club's debt as part of the deal which has been ratified by the EFL.
Donald told a press conference: "Looking at the numbers we have put through, the budget for Sunderland is going to be pretty hefty for League One.
"It's going to be a lot more than any of the teams that got promoted last season had got.
