Sunderland have signed former Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar on a one-year deal.
The move means Pienaar, 34, is reunited with his ex-Everton manager David Moyes at the Stadium of Light.
The South African was released by Everton, having made more than 200 appearances in two spells, at the end of last season.
He signed after a successful trial on Wearside and is likely to go straight into the Sunderland squad for Sunday's derby against Middlesbrough.
Pienaar began his career with Ajax Cape Town in his homeland, and also played for Dutch club Ajax and Borussia Dortmund before moving to the Blues.
