Sunderland striker Fabio Borini is wanted by Serie A side Lazio.
The 26-year-old, who has one cap for Italy, formerly played for Lazio's great rivals Roma and is keen on a return to Rome.
AC Milan have also asked about Borini while Lazio are understood to be proposing a £1million loan fee with view to making the deal permanent for £4m at the end of the season.
Sunderland would prefer an outright sale and talks are ongoing.
