Wigan have re-signed Sunderland's Jordi Gomez on a one-year deal after the midfielder completed a medical at the DW Stadium.
The 31-year-old Spaniard, who began his career with the Barcelona youth team, spent the second half of last season on loan at Blackburn where he scored three goals in 19 appearances.
Gomez enjoyed four seasons in the Premier League with the Latics before they were relegated in 2012-13 and he rejoins the Championship club following their promotion from League One last term.
Former team-mate and Wigan manager Gary Caldwell was delighted to get his man as he told the club's official website: 'There have been rumours about this one all summer and we have had to work really hard to get him here within our budget.
