Gus Poyet has been named as the new head coach of Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua.
The former Brighton and Sunderland manager has replaced Spaniard Grergorio Manzano with Shenhua bosses underwhelmed by the team's fourth-placed league finish last season. Poyet, 49, was sacked by struggling La Liga outfit Real Betis earlier this month but will now take up a new role with the Chinese giants.
Shenhua confirmed the ex-Real Zaragoza, Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder arrived in China on Tuesday and would begin working with the team this week.

The club's performance last season earned them a place in the AFC Champions League, but the club terminated Manzano's contract earlier in November.
