Former Chelsea goalkeeper Marco Amelia is training with Sunderland.
The 34-year old is a free agent after he was released by the Stamford Bridge club this summer.
Amelia spent a season as cover for Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic and was keen to stay in England with Nottingham Forest also making an approach to his representative.
However, David Moyes has invited him to Sunderland in the hope he can impress enough to earn a contract.
