Walsall are reportedly set to approach former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips about their manager's vacancy.
The League Two club are on the hunt for a news boss after sacking Michael Flynn last week following a poor run of form that has seen the club win just once this year.
Phillips is available after surprisingly departing his role as the manager of Northern Premier side South Shields despite guiding them to promotion to National League North for the first time in almost 50 years.
As reported by The Sun, the 49-year-old is on the radar of Walsall, who sit 17th in English football's fourth tier after a 3-2 home defeat by promotion-chasing Salford City.
