Corry Evans and Bradley Dack will leave Sunderland next month after their contracts expire.
Both players suffered injuries which limited their involvement in the Black Cats season, and they are the big names to be left off the club's retained list.
Evans, 33, was a key member of the team that won promotion back to the Championship in 2022 after four seasons in League One.
He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January 2023 and only returned to training with the club in March.
The Northern Ireland international started his career at Manchester United and also played for Hull City and Blackburn Rovers.
