EFL footballers and county cricketers will be allowed to take their first steps back to action while still on furlough, Sportsmail has been told.
We revealed on Friday that Premiership Rugby clubs had been advised by HMRC that players could resume initial training without coming off furlough, in a boost to their plans to restart the season.
And Sportsmail has learnt that those conditions also apply to other sports, so players who have been put on the Government's job retention scheme will now be able to return to some form of practice.

A HMRC spokesperson said: 'Our guidance is clear that furloughed employees can engage in training.
