David Moyes has continued his raid on former club Everton with Sunderland announcing the double signing of Bryan Oviedo and Darron Gibson from Goodison Park.
The Toffees duo arrived on Wearside for medicals on Monday morning, with the deals being announced later that afternoon.
Costa Rican full-back Oviedo, 26, has been drafted in as a replacement for Patrick van Aanholt, who moved to Crystal Palace on Monday in a deal which could eventually amount to £14million.
Republic of Ireland international Gibson, 29, would add strength of Moyes’ midfield options, although his injury record – having managed only 54 senior appearances in the last four-and-a-half seasons – raises concerns over the impact he is likely to make with the struggling Black Cats.
