This is the bizarre moment a female prison officer accused of having an 'inappropriate relationship' with an inmate and smuggling in codeine left court wearing no shoes.

Kelsey Calvert, 28, allegedly began a relationship with the male inmate while working at HMP Holme House, a category C men's prison in Stockton-on-Tees.

The alleged affair, and smuggling of medication, are said to be dated back to 2022.

Kelsey, of Shadwon Close, Ryhope, Sunderland appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court today for a count of being the holder of a public office willfully neglected to perform duty, and one count of bringing a prohibited article - codeine - into prison.
