HAMMOND, Louisiana – The Troy baseball team took advantage of five Southeastern Louisiana miscues en route to a 5-1 victory on Saturday at Pat Kennelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
Troy (7-0), who is off to its best start since 2008, scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 4-1 lead. The inning started with back-to-back singles from Reid Long and Chase Smartt. Bert Givens reached on a fielding error by the Lion third baseman, and loaded the bases with one out. The Lion shortstop booted a ground ball that was to him by Hoke Granger, the next batter, and allowed Smartt and Long to score on the play.
