Sun Belt's Newest Member Headed to College World Series

BATON ROUGE, La. - Coastal Carolina's Michael Paez hit a walk-off single in the ninth inning against LSU to give the Chanticleers its first appearance in the College World Series, 4-3, late Sunday at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

CCU's Alex Cunningham limited LSU to two runs over 7 1/3 innings and reliever Bobby Holmes worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the eighth with the Chanticleers (49-16) clinging to a 3-2 lead. LSU tied it in the top of the ninth because of two fielding errors by second baseman Cameron Pearcey, but Holmes prevented further damage after LSU again loaded the bases.
