FOLEY, Ala. - Brenna McPartlan's penalty kick in the 24th minute proved to be the difference for South Alabama as they defeated fifth-seeded Georgia State, 1-0, at the Foley Sports Complex, to advance to Sunday's Championship match to take on third-seeded Arkansas State.
This will be USA's sixth appearance in the Championship match in the past seven seasons as they won the tournament title five consecutive seasons from 2013-17. This year's appearance will be the second for head coach Richard Moodie since he took the helm of the Jaguar program in 2017.
With the win USA improves to 15-3-2 on the year while Georgia State's season comes to a close with a 9-9-2 record.
