NEW ORLEANS - Sixth-seeded Louisiana (16-15) outlasted 11th-seeded Georgia Southern (5-25), 88-81, in the longest women's basketball tournament game in Sun Belt history.
The teams needed three overtimes to decide a winner in the contest with the Ragin' Cajuns prevailing in the third frame. Louisiana scored 13 points in the final period to six for Georgia Southern.
The game saw nine lead changes and 14 ties throughout the 55-minute contest. The Eagles led 36-31 at the half and tied 45-45 after the end of three. Louisiana had a chance to win the game in regulation on a three-pointer by Nekia Jones that fell short.
