FOLEY, Ala. – Sixth-seeded Georgia State used a late rally to battle back and earn a 3-2 overtime victory over No. 3 Coastal Carolina in Wednesday's finale of the first round of the Sun Belt Women's Soccer Championship at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex, getting the game-winning goal from Brooke Shank in the 94th minute.
The victory extended the Panthers’ unbeaten streak to seven games, improving the team’s overall record to 8-9-2. Coastal Carolina concluded its season with an 8-8-1 mark. GSU advances to the semifinals, where it will face No. 2 Little Rock on Friday.
The Panthers found the back of the net just five minutes into Wednesday’s contest, as Caitlin Ray dished a pass to Lily Barron who netted her third goal of the season to put her team ahead 1-0.
