FOLEY, Ala. - The Little Rock women's soccer team captured its first Sun Belt Conference Women's Soccer tournament title on Sunday, outlasting top-seeded Texas State in a shootout at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex.
Little Rock (13-4-4) wins the title, 6-5, on made penalty kicks after the two teams played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer. Texas State outshot the Trojans, 15-12, on the day with the Trojans leading shots on goal, 5-3.
Texas State's Heather Martin made all five stops for the Bobcats (11-5-4) while Little Rock's Sara Johannsdottir collected one save for the Trojans.
It was the first time since 2011 that the Sun Belt Women's Soccer Championship was decided by penalty kicks.
